Becky our lovely landlady is putting us on a huge BBQ in the beer garden. We all get to sit outside in the evening sun and eat fantastic food with some of the best beer in London, what more could you ask for?

Last year, we had over 100 people turn up, and everyone had a fantastic time.

The cost this year will be about £10 for the BBQ, but unlike last year, it will all be more individually priced, so you'll only play for what your actually eat off the BBQ.

To help us with organising, please sign up on Informed Consent, a post your name into the Putney Munch BBQ announcement thread, so that we can keep track of numbers. If you can't or won't sign up to IC, please email us with your name - and let us know if your veggie, so we can make sure we have enough of each.

Please note the earlier start of 6.30pm, we are allowing extra time for everyone to be fed.

First off.. Putney munch now has a new profile on Informed Consent. This should allow people who don't want to use their email address to contact us via IC's memo system. As a plus, if you have a profile on IC, you can take advantage of the real-life network system on there to say that you attend the Putney Munch (and tell people what you think about us).

Secondly, as a bit of an experiment, I've set up a mailing list on googlegroups. You can find all the details at http://groups.google.co.uk/group/putneymunch. Currently, only Jade and myself are members, so traffic could be consider to be low to non-existant. Feel free to join the list and post. Hopefully we'll get a bit more of a community going.

This is one week later than it would normally be, and will be our Christmas Special.

Obviously, the reason it's a week later is to move it closer to Christmas, and has nothing to do with the fact I'll be in New York the week before. Absolutely nothing, honest.

As it's our Christmas Special, we're going to be doing secret santa. The rules are simple.

1. Buy a present, ballpark spend £5. It should be suitable for anyone.
2. Wrap it up.
3. Bring it to the munch.
4. Hand it over in exchange for a raffle ticket.
5. When your number is called, pick a different present from the table.

We might also have some form of cake.

There are two methods for contacting Putney Munch. The first easiest way is by email, by emailing putneymunch@gmail.com.

The second is by phoning me (Mike) on my munch phone at 07949 802 487. It should be noted that I only carry the phone on the day of the munch (maybe the day before if your lucky). I don't return missed calls, and I don't return texts. This is because it's a pay as you go phone, and I haven't put any money on it. Thus there is little point calling it at any other time!

If you've been trying to contact me and I've not responded, do try sending an email, which I do respond to normally the same day.

We had over 80 people turn up for the BBQ, which was a few more than expected. So having learned from the experience, we thought we should do it all over again next month!

Therefore, Thursday the 3rd of August will be Putney Munch Summer BBQ II. The munch will start from about 7.30, though if it's anything like the last event, I'd advise people to turn up early to get the best seats!

More details to come, but expect more excellent food, great beer, fantastic company and wonderful bar staff.

First of, Putney Munch is a vanilla munch. This means we are a friendly and open environment for newbies to come along and meet people with like minded interests. It's an opportunity for to meet people before they meet their kink. It's inviting, not scary. Part of being a vanilla munch is that ultimately, people not at the munch (ordinary punters at the bar) shouldn't be overly concerned about our presence.

So to that end, I'm going to post a couple of easy rules for people to follow.

1. Please do not display toys.
I know you really want to show off that flogger, whip, electrical toy or handcuffs you've just brought along with you. But please, refrain from doing this. If you absolutely must, then please do it at the back of the pub. Do NOT show toys by the bar. You will be warned. You won't get two warnings. Ideally, please leave your toys at home.

2. Please wear appropriate clothing AND underwear.
If you feel the need to change when you arrive at the munch into a special outfit, the chances are what you arrived in was more suitable for the munch. I don't want to rain on anyones parade, or stop people expressing themselves, or showing off how slutty their submissive is, but please remember this is a vanilla pub, where ordinary people go to drink, as is their right (it being their local). So if you feel the need to dress in a really short skirt, please remember what your mother told you, and ensure your wearing appropriate undergarments.

Your help and consideration is appreciated in this matter.

The first of which is, we have a new date. The munch will now run on the first Thursday of the month. This is to ensure we don't clash with any football matches.

The second is, the pub will now be providing hot food, cooked fresh on the premises by a chef. So we will no longer need to bring our own food. Hopefully we won't lose too much of the character of the munch with this change.

So the next munch is only a couple of weeks away on Thursday 5th of January! Hopefully people won't be too tired from the new year. :)

The plan is that we will be doing secret santa. This is where you bring a present for someone at the munch. The thing is, you don't know who to, and they don't know who gave the present.

So, first off...

The Rules.

  1. Maximum spend £5. (Ok, let's call it ballpark spend of £5 - don't go over board, this is meant to be fun, not a competition!).
  2. Please wrap your present.
  3. Your present should be suitable for anyone. Man or Women. Top or Bottom. I can't say what mix we'll have on the night and this makes it all easier.

On the night.

  1. Put your present on the top table.
  2. Take a raffle ticket. Don't lose it!
  3. At 10pm we will draw the raffle tickets, when your number is called, go up and take a present.

Now, if you don't want to partake in the christmas sillyness, don't worry. You can still come to the munch without a present, you just don't get to take a present home. Feel free to just come and eat mince pies and stollen with us.

It's now got a slightly cleaner new look, and is built using Rapid Weaver, so it's quicker and easier for me to update it.

I've got rid of the guest book for now - as the amount of comment spam that was getting added to it was too much, and I'd rather people had a way to post more live rather than relying on me to filter the comments before publication.

Hopefully, this latest news section will solve that, as it's using an external comment system provider, where hopefully lots of the comment spam issues have been resolved.

As for news on this months munch, it's all set for the 28th. Offers of food are welcome.
